What do I need to know to get this job?
• Relevant Degree – BA / Philosophy / English / Communication
• Previous experience in creating training material essential
(Will consider graduates who have previously participated in e.g. debate team, editing of school newspaper or persons with journalistic experience)
• Previous experience in creating training videos/multimedia advantageous
• Previous experience in retail advantageous
• Excellent written communicator
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to cope with constant change in priorities
• Ability to have attention to detail while keeping the bigger picture in mind
• Ability to elicit information by asking probing questions
• The ideal candidate will be able to self-manage and motivate themselves and be results driven.
What will I do every day?
This position reports to the Human Resources Manager. The Technical Document Writer will work with multiple divisions in the company.
The Technical Document Writer will take the release notes received from development, interview Test/Business Analysts to extract more information and create a library of training material including User Manuals, How-To Guides, etc. Essentially very technical documentation needs to be made easily understandable for the layman. These tools will be used by our Trainers for the training of staff (internal) and clients (external).
The Technical Document Writer will expand on the technologies used in creating training material to include training videos/multimedia. Scope also exists to include Soft Skills Training.
Normal working hours will be Monday-Friday from 08h00-17h00. Occasional overtime will apply, depending on deadlines. After the initial training period a work-from-home option can be discussed – however the incumbent must be able/available to come in for meetings. (Training will include site visits in order to gain a better understanding of retail.)
