The Centre for Infectious Diseases Epidemiology & Research (CIDER) in the School of Public Health and Family Medicine is a large, dynamic research group with more than 80 staff. The Centre seeks to appoint a Technical Officer (Test Analyst) on a full-time one-year contract in support of its technical assistance role to the National Department of Health. The main purpose of this position is to assist the software development team with software testing activities and provide third line support to users of the TIER.Net system rolled out nationally in over 4000 facilities.

Responsibilities:
-Software testing
  • Manual and automated testing
  • Creating test plans and carrying out test cases
  • Identify, record, document and track issues
-Third line support to the user community
-Development of technical documents (Testing documents, installation guides, faqs)
-Administration

Requirements:
-Diploma in health, information, computation science or related field
-2 years or more experience in specifying, developing or testing software
-1-year experience in third line support activities
-Strong written and verbal communication in English
-Strong knowledge of SQL and scripting
-Customer service skills
-ISTQB certification, TIER.Net experience and public health sector experience would be advantageous.

The annual cost of employment, including benefits (where applicable), is between R319 727 and R376 148.
