The Gautrain was running late on Tuesday after experiencing technical problems.

There was a service announcement saying there were delays, but no reasons for the delays given.

Frustrated passengers left the station to use their cars while others carried on waiting for the train.

Gautrain operator Bombela Concession Company spokesman Errol Braithwaite said the service encountered a "small technical issue", which had been resolved by 8am.

"There were some delays for a short while, but all have been resolved."

One of the train lines between Midrand and Centurion was affected, resulting in trains running on one line only.

At Gautrain stations, commuters were on their phones explaining to employers that they would be running late.

One passenger told Sapa she would think twice about using the train on Wednesday. The train that eventually came was so overcrowded that a conductor announced it could not take any more passengers.

Seems like there is something going wrong with this stupid train at least once a week....

This is africa, you can' t expect 3min max delays like switzerland or 40sec in japan where they give you a certificate to hand to your employer while profusely apologising the whole time.

I boarded the train this morning while the announcement about the delays was already out and it left right on time at 6h14, got off at Sandton at 6h53 which was 5mins late. So not really anything to write home about.
