Job brief
IDX is looking for a Technical Sales Consultant that will be able to understand a customer’s needs and provide the most appropriate solution for them. Primarily the types of solutions include protocol converters, fieldbus and industrial Ethernet test tools and remote monitoring solutions. It is required that you can provide accurate technical service before and after the point of sale, ensuring customer that the customer’s requirement have been fulfilled. You will also be required to develop sales strategies and attract new clients.
As a Technical Sales Consultant, you should be a tech-savvy professional, able to explain technical details and requirements to a non-technical audience. You should also be results-driven and aspire to achieve specific goals. Customer service oriented is an important requirement.
Ultimately, you should be able to provide technical, product and business knowledge to support the sales process and strengthen customer relationships, and gain new business from multiple avenues.
A successful candidate will play a key role in increasing income and revenue by managing and negotiating with clients, generating leads and qualifying prospects. You will also have an opportunity to streamline existing processes and methodologies to promote consistent customer experience while minimising cumbersome manual processes. Forming vendor relationships will also be key.
Training on common/popular fieldbus and Ethernet Technologies will be provided as well as product training, however the candidate will be expected to learn on the job and take iniative to learn new products and technologies and potentially provide training on those.
Responsibilities
• Provide technical support for customers to support pre-sales and post-sales processes
• Follow up with current customer base and address queries in a timely manner
• Travel to customer premises for site visits and meetings
• Complete and accurately process sales (Quote generation, Orders, Invoicing, stock management, internal and external logistics) and stream-line existing processes
• Address all product-related queries on time
• Support customers on the effective use of products
• Provide developers with customers’ feedback to help identify potential new features or products
• Report on new business and current customer satisfaction
• Identify solutions to increase market penetration
• Analyse customers’ needs and suggest potential avenues of income.
• Establish best practices
• Solid technical background with hands on experience in digital technologies
• Familiarity with software and front-end development
• An ability to gasp customers’ needs and suggest timely solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated and driven
• Know the IDX terms and conditions documents as well as those of our vendors
• Handle product returns and know warranty policies of IDX and its own vendors and suppliers
• POPI. Be compliant and ensure our systems and company as a whole is compliant
Candidate Requirements:
• Personal integrity and willingness to self-manage but contribute in a team setting to the success of others
• Strong customer service orientation
• Excellent oral and written communications skills are vital
• Technical qualification advantageous (B.Tech or similar)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license
Salary Range (guideline)
Junior: R180k-R220k
Skilled: R300k-R350k
