Please drop the fire fighter from your list of options, you really have to be very motivated to do that job, it is a horrible job here in SA, imagine pulling burned bodies from shacks in the township. All the firefighters I know are stressed out/traumatized by what they are seeing daily.

Thanks, we know. We lived next door to a fireman for many years and sadly, the son really looked up to and admired him. We heard all the horrors of his job. I suppose he hasn't really thought it through and when it comes down to crunch time, it's unlikely he will follow this route as he is way too soft hearted. I would hate for him to lose that character trait.
He left for school yesterday...6 weeks left, wish us luck!
