Technology drives behaviour, but is it the right behaviour? (Column)

A very good article. One of the better ones I've seen here in a while.
 
Productive people can be more productive if they choose, [highlight]but Social media or unfettered communication means unproductive people can now be unproductive is so many more creative ways than they could in the past.[/highlight]

Technology will facilitate this and history shows we should expect a massive upsurge in the quantity of the communication, and a corresponding drop in productivity.

The company I work for actively tries to monitor everything that employees do on The Internet, the majority of unproductive people that spend their entire work day on "social media" sites get away with it due to employment equity quotas.
