Hey Guys

I've been keeping a close eye out for any Tegra 3 tablets that are yet to be announced. So far it seems like between Motoroloa and ASUS, they will be the first to release the first Tegra 3 tablet hopefully around August.

If any of you have any news regarding any leaks, updates about it (other than what's been announced by Nvidia). The dyanmic lighting video looks sick! This is going to be a monster platform, Quad-core, 1440p playback, 3x fast graphics, than Tegra 2 and you'll be able to play console like games on it and at least Honeycomb will run ultra smooth

Im a bit hesitant about the current Tegra 2 tablets (Zoom, Galaxy 10.1v, 10.1, Asus tranformer, slate, ..etc) as it seems like honeycomb is still a bit laggy on them.

Let me know your thoughts about it as well as any updates about it, Im starting to save cash in the meantime. I'll probably import it from Expansys or other online store, as we'll have to wait at least another 2-3 months after it's released for it to come to SA.

Google will optimise 3.x in due course, (the difference between 2.1 and 2.2 was massive if you dont remember how much optimisations went into 2.2)

The only reason to consider a Kal-El tablet is because of gaming and only gaming, i dont think that there is any other use to having so much power on a mobile device.

have faith in google :P dual core phones have yet to find a "place" in the market yet, it's still kind of a marketing buzzword at this point IMHO (dont flame), im not saying this because I have a single core phone, im saying this because most respectable consumer electronics bloggers and tech reviewers think the same.

Maybe in 4-6months time, there will come a time when multi-core will overpower single core in all aspects. wrt user expirience and general phone usage they pretty much the same at this point in time.

But hopefully 1080p recording will be more commonplace now that theres 4 cores

"Tegra 3 Tablets"

Here i thought its some new sort of viagra lol

I am with CrazYmonkeY159 that the only people that will probably need it is gamers.

3.0 is only laggy on the 1st tablets, Some of the latest tablets seem to have sorted most of the issues out like Asus Eee Pad and then we have reversions of Android(3.1) that also help ironing out some of the performance hiccups.

Remember Honeycomb was kind of a rush job with no true optimization, this will come especially once Ice Cream Sandwich opens its source to the world. (Next Month)

so here we are with the galaxy tab 10.1 just getting noticed and stock arriving, and its already OLD CR AP :)
This brings up a very interesting debate, I do not think Cellphone vendors are geared to handle these tablets, the release cycles are insane. They are to slow pushing the stuff out and therefore sales will suffer.

The tablet user (most of them anyway) will most likely be an informed buyer, a tech nerd, and like just mentioned, the Galaxy tab is how many months overdue in SA? They can forget selling it now to the tech crowd since we will be waiting for the next best thing.
We need some PC suppliers/wholesalers to start ship these tablets on a much more timely fashion, then you will see a massive uptake on them in SA. Or we will need to start sourcing our own hardware from across the water.

I agree. Pc suppliers have to pick up the slack here. I see landmarkpc is already starting to do this which is good news.

I have to agree regarding the release cycles, although it took a while before other manufactures started to release their Honeycomb tablets after the Zoom was released. Samsung released their Galaxy Tab 10.1v via Vodafone, but their final product 10.1 is only being release today in the US. The Tegra 2 chips for these tablets was out already close to the end of 2010, the holdup came with Google trying to finalise Honeycomb into a workablee, more stable version. Motoroloa decided to take the risk and launch their tablet while they were still ironing out the issues with 3.0, so their sales suffered, but then again they were the first to get Honeycomb 3.1 update.

Tablets started off as a niche market, but they are vastly growing to appeal to the masses. For many, the Tegra 2 device will suffice, they are powerful enough to do most day to day tasks (provided that the software is stable and the performance is optimised).
In terms of tech savy user, they are mostly on the lookout for what's new and upcoming, but essentially they are looking for a device that can run almost anything you throw at it, with the least amount of lag or gliches.

I was personally waiting to get the Samsung 10.1 (even 10.1v) since about Feb/March, but now that I have seen what's on the horizon, I'm willing to wait just a bit longer (even if I end up importing it myself)
