Hi all,

I have a huge problem with Telkom right now. We moved to Kalk Bay(Cape town) in January this year. I applied for a new line already in December.
After millions of calls and visits, it seems that telkom has no intention whatsoever to install new Equipment in Kalk Bay.
They are out of lines and it is not possible to get a normal Telephone line.
The promised date moved form January to March, to May the August, and now it should be November.

That means basically one year to get a normal Telephone line in a city like Cape Town.
This is such a unbelievable joke.
Has anyone experienced similar, or where could I escalate this?

Kind regards,

Wolfgang

Hi wbergbauer,

I live in the new part of Muizenberg called Capricorn Beach. Telkom won't install ADSL on the currently existing phone lines here (they've given me 3 *different* excuses), or telephone lines themselves. I just moved to a new place here, and it doesn't have a phone line, and 4 months after I "ordered" a phone line here, nothing has happened.

Capricorn Business Park, around the corner from me, has asked Telkom to enable ADSL for them, and Telkom told them they won't setup ADSL until the business park is full... the poor business park is doomed... without ADSL I don't see businesses wanting to have offices there...

In short, you've hit a dead end. I'm going with Vodacom's HSDPA - I have good reception here.

(What perplexes me the most is how 3-house dorpies like Calitzdorp and Sedgefield have ADSL, but we can't get it here in Cape Town!)

Sedgefield has more than 3 houses - just looking out my window I see... oh.. at least 10...:)

Can anyone confirm that there's ADSL availability in Muizenberg (Cape Town) Capricorn Beach?

Did you come right with Telkom?
