Telecom NZ broadband goes full throttle

Telecom New Zealand said it would begin moving all its internet broadband customers to maximum speeds from October in line with a recent determination by the Commerce Commission.

Instead of being marketed according to specific maximum line rates, "unconstrained broadband" plans would deliver whatever the network is capable of delivering to that place, at that time, Telecom's technology and enterprises chief Mark Ratcliffe said. <snip>

We would love to try the same thing, but whilst we have inept officials running the DOC because of their own, selfish interests, a toothless and lacksadaisical (sp?) regulator and a monopoly intent on continued exorbitant profit at the expense of the countries growth, it will never, EVER happen.
