Telefunken full HD LED 32"

We have one of those Telfunken 32 inch LED's in the boardroom.

It really is terrible for office tasks, and gaming is nearly as bad. Powerpoint presentations would be fine, but that's about it.

I'd steer clear if I were you.

Was just wondering.. its a damn good price for a FHD 32".
What do you mean by this? Did you check it out in store?

Killa had the experience of buying one of these cheapies and it turned out not to be a FHD TV. What do you want to do with the TV as for PC and gaming there may be issues with input lag and display issues. The best would be to try it in store with a laptop and see what you get. Check if it's got a PC mode of sots. If all else fail make it clear to the sales agent what you want to use it for and make it clear it will be returned if the unit fails to perform in those areas required for use.

Thought as much, did you check if it's got a PC mode? That could make all the difference for office tasks display quality.

My pick would be the Samsung LA32D550 32" FHD LCD at around R3,300 - R3,800. Well worth it, one of the best 32" PC screens, has HD media player, etc.

It does AFAIK, and it didn't help much at all. I wouldn't have a problem buying on of these as a kitchen/pub TV if all I wanted was size at low cost, but as my primary display for any task it wouldn't even feature.

I'm with PostmanPot on the Samsung LA32D550, I've had one and it really is excellent at the price.

Yea in general the cheap stuff is perfect for television. Not so much for pc work.

When you say it's bad could you explain why? Like what happens when u game or hook up a pc? Is it blurry? I know you have to adjust many things to get a cheapie working nicely

If talking SD I would have to disagree. Your plasma is [very] good at SD because its native AR is 4:3 (with diagonal pixels for 16:9). I think you'd be shocked testing cheapies (non 720p plasma) for TV. :)

because they're brighter. Brightness not many people would ever use.

... it's great when there is an explosion on screen ... things rumble ... you have close your eyes ever so slightly because of the white light .... just adds that extra bit of realism!

I know you can't really comprehend, but maybe visit a friend and watch an action movie to check it out? Plasma appears great for a romantic drama, if that you're thing

Why wouldn't I be able to comprehend it? Given that my friends already own LED-backlit LCD (very unimpressive in the brightness dept tbh). Also many CCFL LCDs outperform competing LED-LCDs? Can you explain?

That plasma was amazing with 1080/720 stuff. OMG it is amazing. I would take that plasma over my sammy for tv only anyday.

I'm with you on that. Definitely the best way for reliance on TV/sport.

Recently 'upgraded' my 52cm CRT running SD DSTV to 32" FHD LCD - :(

So you're saying Dolby was not being genuine and actually trolling?

I dunno my sammy looks good with sd stuff as well, just the picture with plasma was better for video's though, sd i am not sure if it was better but 1080 and 720p looks amazing.

I don't miss the heat though from the plasma. Goodness it got warm haha.

Do you wear glasses ? does the world appear blurry to you usually ? then get that tv, and watch it with glasses, and it will seem as if your vision is "without glasses" ;)

If you are going to use it as a PC monitor, get a decent brand, if it was just for TV it would be fine.

Nothing, certainly not your socks.

Perhaps you/Nu World could tell us why your 42" JVC plasma PD43N30 is advertised as Full HD, but it cannot display at Full HD when connected to a computer via HDMI? It is advertised as being good with PC. Does it display at FHD with a VGA cable? Can you confirm whether native 1920x1080 pixels works then for VGA? http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/388673-FHD-LCD-TV-S?p=7394751&viewfull=1#post7394751

This one. I believe it to be an excellent TV other than for PC use via HDMI. Perhaps killadoob can elaborate on how it was with VGA.

I'm not saying it's not Full HD, but it's quite peculiar since there is no 42/43" JVC plasma on the official site that does 1920x1080p. There is very little information on the internet about the PD43N30. Could you link to an official JVC website with this Full HD plasma?

Still interested? Could you tell us again what you're wanting to use it for?

Nope not interested any more, thanks for the advice. I just thought if its decent it might be worth getting at that price... Would have been used as a TV and PC screen.
