Telegram turns first profit in 11 years

Social media app Telegram is profitable for the first time after paying down “a meaningful share” of some $2 billion (R37.1 billion) in debt, CEO Pavel Durov said in a post on X Monday.

The milestone comes as the messaging service faces increasing scrutiny for aiding the spread of misinformation and illegal content such as child sexual abuse materials.

I have never had to. I don't browse the open channels or groups. And Telegram have said they do take down illegal things like child porn etc.

Then on the other side....Whatsapp blocked the business account for the men's health clinic my partner worked at because they were promoting the use of drugs. They are a fcking health clinic that supplies gay men with free anti virals and also PReP medication to prevent being infected. That apparently violated Whatsapp / Facebook rules.
