Does anyone know of any device, whether a adapter that you plug-into the phone line, or maybe using your modem, to record your telephone calls on the pc with WinXP?

I've tried a adapter that plugs into the headset and then to the soundcard, but managed to blow the soundcard. Overseas they have many recording adapters to plug into line and then pc, but cannot find a supplier of any kind here. Anyone/places you know I can contact perhaps with telephone adapters, etc.

The modem (Intel chipset) with microphone port, just doesn't give me any sound out of the microphone jack, so that I can divert it to the soundcard.

Anything, except the expensive telephoney pci cards that cost around R 2000+ for only 4 lines.

When I plugged the telephone lines into the modem and tried to record via that, it kicks the phone out as soon as I click record on the software.

Greatly appreciated, urgently!!!

Mic jack is for input. You use that to record your answering message, etc. You need a piece of software that supports your paticular modem's voice instruction set. Your modem should be able to send the messages via your sound card, but some internal models require a cable to be connected to the Aux-in on the motherboard. I used to know a few free ones, but not anymore since they have become less popular. You may want to try this, but scan for spyware after installing as sometimes freebies come at a cost!

Thanks, but the thing is, I had software that worked with the modem on the test pc, but as soon as I used the same modem on the live pc which is on a PABX system, it kicks out the handset as soon as the recording starts.....any ideas?

i think Telkom sell a device called Telecorder that does exactly what you want...

Can you use Skype on your PC... and record that while you make your calls?

BTW, you do realize that it is illegal in some countries to record a telephone calls without the other parties consent?

That is why you hear those warning messages when you call a company that the call is recorded.

For recording conversations i use skype + SkypeCap

What will be for infringement of this law?

You can be prosecuted in a civil case for invasion or privacy, and you can be prosecuted in a criminal trial for "interception of communications" which is a violation of the Electronic Communications Act.
