Johannesburg - Two men who allegedly tried to extort $1m from investment holding company Telesure will appear in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday.

They last appeared on June 30, where the matter was postponed for further investigation.

Ghanaian businessman Henry Kofi Panti, 49, and self-employed computer system analyst, Dalton Lentswe Mononyane, 38, are out on bail of R20 000 and R5 000 respectively.

They allegedly gained access to Telesure's payroll system, stole its employees' personal information, and then demanded $1m to return it.

During their bail application, the two indicated they intended to plead not guilty to charges of attempted extortion and fraud.

They maintained they had never met prior to being arrested.

The company owns insurance brands including Auto & General, Budget, DialDirect and First for Women.
