I read about Telkom's new increase in data allowance but they don't mention anything about the Telkom customers who are still on 1 GB a month. I am an IT tech and my clients who have been with Telkom for many years are still on a 1 GB cap. That doesn't seem fair to me. Does anyone know what to do to change that?

Why do you have them on the 1gb though?
It's been changed to 5gb.

When they joined Telkom Broadband years ago Telkom only offered 1 GB, 2 GB and 5 GB and the 2 GB was eventually changed to 5 GB and the 5 GB to 10 GB and a new 2 GB product was introduced and a year or so ago the 2 was upgraded to 5, the 5 to 10 and the 10 to 20 but the 1 GB stayed the same and is still the same, and is now not even mentioned in the new upgrade.

That's odd.
I recently asked to be put on a 1gb account as a downgrade option and they could only offer me 5gb.

Seems odd, what is listed under "Subscription Services" on their Telkom account?

I just found the following on a website dated 1 Feb 2012: "
Telkom sent an email out to all its TelkomInternet subscribers yesterday highlighting how it is increasing its data caps at no charge for all clients. The increases will come into effect from today, 1 February 2012.
1GB Telkom Internet AllAccess clients stay at 1GB ( R79.00 a month)
4GB Telkom Internet AllAccess increases to 5GB (still priced at R99.00 a month)
8GB Telkom Internet AllAccess increases to 10GB (still priced at R149.00 a month)
16GB Telkom Internet AllAccess increases to 20GB (still priced at R239.00 a month or R259.00 a month for Premium subscribers).
While 1GB subscribers see no change, an upgrade to 5GB is only an extra R20 a month. Also, Telkom clients with the 16GB Do broadband package have now been bumped up to 20GB a month."

So it seems if they are prepared to pay the R20 a month more, they can upgrade but it just doesn't seem fair that all the other packages get increase in data twice now without having to pay more while the 1GB people gets overlooked?

That's over 2 years old, what is listed under "Subscription Services" on their last Telkom account?

See below. Also if you log into the Telkom internet usage tracker website with the persons Telkom account details, on top is printed "Product 1GB "

Telkom (TI) at its best, plain TI-AllAccess isn't even on the pricelist any longer :wtf:

Guess your clients need to upgrade (crazy not to), wonder if 10210 even have a 1GB capped > 5GB Softcap option on their screens, they might need to cancel 1GB before moving to Softcap which could involve a new email address.

Best of luck, let us know how it goes.

I am not sure how Telkom Internet Access work but please inform your customers to contact Telkom Internet 10210 they will probably have to cancel their 1 GIG account and apply for 5/10 gig account for R20 extra per month, you better do it now or ask them is there a pro-rate fee.

As far as I remember you had to contact 10210, cancel your 1 GIG account, apply for a new account and contact SAIX/telkom internet - long procedure.

I just saw this on a friend's bill. wtf

A while back, they were running out of internet, so they changed to a Softcap 20gb. However, this was just bolted on. They still have TI - AllAccess 1GB @R79 running concurrently after all these years. Obviously Telkom are just keeping quiet and taking advantage of the situation.

Crooks.

Is Bunch of Crooks

I won't say Telkom are the crooks. The person that did the change did not do the migration correctly and it was never queried or anything so you can't really blame Telkom. They can't just go and cancel services. The person that did it messed up.

I hear you, but so many people are clueless when it comes to IT. It would have been easy for Telkom to ask.
