Telkom 1GIG accounts?

Ive been hearing some people at Telkom talking about clients purchasing 1gig accounts.( i dont know if anyone here knows about it already)
So I decided to investigate and its true. i really don’t know why they don’t let there staff know about these things.

1 GB TelkomInternet- AllAccess - - R79.00
1 GB TelkomInternet-AllAccess Advanced - - R99.00
2 GB TelkomInternet-AllAccess - - R149.00
3 GB TelkomInternet-AllAccess Advanced - - R239.00
3 GB TelkomInternet-AllAccess Premium - - R259.00
3 GB TelkomInternet-AllAccess Business - - R284.00
4 GB TelkomInternet-AllAccess Advanced Unshaped - - R489.00

The advanced accounts allow more than one concurrect connection as far as i know.. :)
 
I'd love to have a sit down with Telkom's product development guys one day...

They are not human ... they are actually Ferengi.

Who have you 'heard' this from? I see your location is Telkom Towers. Is that a joke or are you actually there?

How they go about deciding which pakages to offer (never mind the pricing thereof). Telkom's 1GB account is 33% more expensive than Axxess and 15% more expensive than prepaid with rollover...

I am not sure what Axxess offer completely, but do they offer you DIAL/ISDN/SAT access after your 1Gb (which is actually 2GB hard capped) is reached?

Maybe I have missed something...?

The 1Gb all access product means you can use your regular telkomsa.net username for all access mediums with 1Gb of DSL usage thrown in.

The policy for this product at the moment is that the hard DSL cap only kicks in after 2Gb.

I'm not disputing what you say but you might want to point this out to the PR people there because the impression I got from this http://www.mybroadband.co.za/nephp/?m=show&id=6302 is that the 1gb accounts were literally 1gb.
This relaxed capping policy however does not apply to 1 GB accounts, Telkom explained:

“All subscribers will have access to their minimum monthly bandwidth of either 1, 2 or 3 GB. Should a customer have a 1 GB account and reach a threshold they will fall into the restrictive access category,” Telkom said.

“It is important to note that no collective threshold is applicable to 1 GB accounts. Should a customer have a 2 or 3 GB account and consume the initial subscription of 2 or 3 GB prior to month-end, they will then have access to a collective threshold which will keep them online and unaffected.”

Yes, I know what they say... but what is said and what is done is different - I know that because I built it.

The thing is, it can change anytime and they may want to force the cap to 1Gb next month or the month after. But this month it is 2Gb.
 
So why not advertise it at a 2GB product? If I'm buying the 1GB product from u in the hope that I get 2GB I'm taking a pretty big risk given the 24 month time span. Why not simply hard-cap and drop the price? Then everyone know's what to expect and no guessing games?

That is the big problerm with Telkom - what they say and what they do invariably differs, but no one there seems bothered by it. They specialise in bad communication.

I cant help that unfortunately. I understand what you are saying though, re communication.
As I understand it you get 1Gb upfront, what you get after that is related to a shared pool of bandwidth. This month it is 1Gb for every user, therefore giving 2Gb this month. But like I have said before, that may change next month to 2Gb extra or none or 500mb - I dont know.
