Im new to ADSL, so just want to clarify a few things.

I am on a 1mg telkom uncapped account, I went to titracker, and it showed green, and is now moving to orange, AFAIK, when it gets red, i will get shped/throttled.

1st question, how does the usage reset work, once a month? and can anyone also give some insight at what amount of data the throttle/shaping will happen?

2nd question, what gets throttled/shaped and to what extent?

3rd question, my torrents, even though I was in the green, is crawling. NZB's is going at round about 90-100kbs, but torrents is at like 5kbs, jumps to maybe 15 for a space, then down to like 1-2 again. I have installed uTorrent on another PC to make sure that its not the a setting on my pc, but still the same issue. Does telkom throttle torrents even though I am in the green? FYI, its a well seeded torrent, like 5000 seeds and 40 leechers.

You should expect slow torrents during office hours. Unless you are on a premium package, this is always the case. You should be happy that your NZB's are going at full speed though.

Are you downloading the NZB and torrent simultaneously?

I get that, problem is just, it does not even seem to go up after hours. One torrent, well seeded, 3gb in size, been downloading for about 2weeks now, and its on 43% done at the moment.

Nope, only torrent what I cant get on NZB's, so sab is idle when downloading torrents. Even closed sab completely just to test, still same results

Have you tried using Transmission as your torrent client? Transmission is a Linux torrent client that now is available on windows as well.
I was having some intermittent issues with torrent speed, on the rare occasion I couldn't get higher than 50-60kbps. Saw a post by MickZA (I think) about Transmission. I downloaded it and so far I havent had the problem re-occur, full speed torrents all day.

Heres a link if you wanna try it out http://code.google.com/p/transmisson-remote-gui/downloads/list

It lacks all the bells and whistles that Bitorrent has but who cares as long as it works ;)

Will download and check it out. Does this have a webUI option, because all my applications are run on my headless server.

oops, maybe i should haved RTFM before asking questions

LMAO, its human nature to only pull out the manual once we've exhausted all other possibilities.

Did you get it up and running?

More importantly, did it fix your problem?

+1 I helped out another windows user here the other day with that and the difference was night and day afterwards.

Thanks Ponder, it was the posts between you and MickZA that got me trying Transmission. It works like a charm, who cares if the GUI is shyte. I just want my torrents and I want them as fast as possible.

I use Peerblock to manage my blocklist and keep prying eyes out of my PC. Do you think using transmissions blocklist will be better than Peerblock?

I see alot of complaints about slow torrents on the Ti thread, maybe they should trytransmission....

I actually like the Transmission interface.

I have no idea. I prefer not having to run any extra apps when I don't have to.
