So I moved in to my new place at the beginning of June and requested a line transfer before doing so. I did not hear anything from Telkom and eventually contacted them at the end of June only to be told that there are 'infrastructure constraints'. I went in to a store to get a more detailed explanation.

I was told that I can't get a line installation done due to there being 'no ports available in the area'.

What am I to do now? What are my options?

Currently, we are awaiting fibre in the area as well (next month according to Vox). Will this be viable/different port setup?

That sucks Quantum. I ordered my line on-store on a Sunday, and it was installed on Tuesday. By Wednesday I was online.

Speed is possible, but it is a lottery I agree.

Happened to me too. Had to wait 3 months and some one cancelled their adsl and I got the port :D

You are going to be stuck on the waiting list until some one cancels...

I've been waiting for over a month and a half now. Been endless problems with infrastructure and everything else. Today they were meant to install, but as luck would happen, they went on strike. So the wait continues.

Ordered mine and had it installed in 3 days, if it makes you feel any better?
