Or 4 months in my case.
Great to see some positivity about ol' Telkom (ol' -- seeing as i've spent almost half a year independent from them without making the decision to do so?), but seriously now, which techie was so helpful? Managed to get his contact details? I have a cable theft that needs assistance as it's been down for 4 months so far. Help of any kind to get even just my DSL (I believe all that needs to be connected is one copper pair of wire - I WILL PROVIDE THIS AND WHATEVER OTHER COST TO WHOEVER KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING).
There's two cables cut - it's on the poles outside my house - One has a steel-like metal core with about 30 cores/strands of copper next to it, and the other is just one thick cable with like 50 cores in it... blue, green, orange, grey, white, red, etc. I can go check exactly again, and take pictures if need be. If someone can guide me as to which cable would be the one to use, and which colours to play with, i could connect it up myself. I've got a phone i can 'phreak' with to test for dialtone if that will help. Telkom are too lazy to give a ****, so legality isn't an issue, I just want to get my DSL working again.
Cable theft is not my problem. I don't really care if the costs to telkom for replacing the cables outweigh revenue from line rentals and services. I'm a resident of this country, which should provide public/semi-public services, especially POTS telephone and Electricity. I don't want Wireless. I will not settle for second-grade service.
If they can't repair my service, but the facility is there, I will do it myself. Simple.
They wanna take me to court for playing with their property? Let them try, I'll reverse the effect. I'm the one who's lost business from them failing to restore my service in a timely manner. If anyone should be sued, it's them.
