I was at a telkom office this weekend and saw that they now offer a 4 port ethernet ADSL device for R999. Does anybody have any info on this and know if it ships in bridging or routing mode?

DONT GET THIS TELKOM CRAP YOU WILL PAY FOR IT EVENTUALY for a similar price you can get a 8 port switch and mode,

It's not the ports I'm worried about, it's the ease of having the telkom guy install it (it's not for me but for clients). I'd like to know if it ships in bridging mode like the regular telkom device.

If the telkom guys installing why worry how it ships, but all the units ive installed have all been bridging, with a new build of the pppoe client

I installed this modem for a client last week. I think it's a Marconi. It can handle the ppp connection by itself, and NAT to the four ports, or, as I did, set it up to act as a modem that works over PPPoE.

If you want to use it as a switch, I'll agree with loosecannon, buy a proper switch. But just as a modem it's nice and it's all the same as telkom doesn't proved the older single port (alcatel?) any more.
