Telkom 4mb d/l and u/l speed issue

Morning,

My 4mb line was activated yesterday.The technician wasn't inside my house.
He also hasn't brought me my new router.I am using old Telkom dlink 2570u router.

Thing is my upload and download speeds are 500kb.

Seeing as I am new to this adsl thing I thought that it is my router.
Can it perhaps be that the line speed hasn't been sync properly?

What can be the problem?

Help would be aprreciated.

ADSL means Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line.

in Short, upload and download are not the same.

500kbps is a bit slow, but theoretical maximum is 1Mbps upload. Thats just how it is.
