Hi guys,

Thinking of immigrating to telkom internet. Please can you can advise if they apply a cap if you reach a certain limit and if so:

- What are limits &
- Does a soft cap apply and what are these speeds like

Depends on what you will be using it for....

I have a 4Mbps uncapped account and have hit 300GB without being "capped", "throttled" or "shaped". I do not push it to the limit, so I won;t classify myself as a heavy user.

The softcap is harsh. It allows you to browse and surf and not much else as it is SLOW. It can only be reinstated by topping up again.

An hour's DL per day won't get you anywhere claose to the softcap.

So if you on an uncapped one can be softcapped and then you would have to top up. Sorry MickeyD I don't undestand, one would top up if you are on a capped account?

On an uncapped account you can also "top up" to restore your line speed.
 
Hi guys, I just got off the phone with Telkom who have advised that their uncapped accounts are just that uncapped with no soft cap whatsoever. Do we have a Telkom rep who can assist me? Thank you

It is referred to as a FUP or AUP...

Fair Usage Policy or Acceptable Usage Policy
 
MickeyD , are you the Telkom rep on here ? Sorry , I`m new. Will Telkom notify me before I get throttled / shaped ?
How will I know that I need to slow down on my 4Mbps Uncapped ?

No, not all all. I only respond on products that I use.

The Telkom rep is TelkomZA.
