Telkom 4mg line

Hi there
I've just upgraded to telkom's 4mg line. Can anyone tell me what my download speed should be? using speedtext i get about 3.33mb/s . also when wireless how much slower will download speed me? What is the best package to buy to get fast download speed and also if i want to stream radio? does having shaped or unshaped help or not? Excuse my ignorance, i'm new to this!

I get about 3.4MB/s on speedtest.net to local servers. It's a lot slower internationally. I think 3.33MB/s, or therabouts, is probably as good as one can hope for...

Your speed shouldn't drop at all if you're using wi-fi in your house, or whatever. Your latency might be affected if the signal is disrupted somehow. (Granny walks past in her lead brazier, or something. )

Most people only get unshaped accounts if they want to play games on international servers (World of Warcraft and such). The main advantage is lower latency. Unshaped might be a bit faster with international downloads, but you can get most big downloads locally these days.

I get about 3,5 international and about the sane local.Pings international are terrible while local are abot 29.I am using shaped DSL

Thanks, so it seems my line is about the standard. How do i test the international download speed? I primarily want to do international downloads, so speed is an issue. I get a 'b' on the ping test which i guess is ok.

ah, worked it our, change which server you are testing it with!
