Telkom 5100 router & VNC

Hey. I am trying to set up NAT for VNC on this Telkom 5100 router.

I went to portforward.com and did the works. It still doesn't want to connect.

It used to work with the marconi broadband router.

I have set 5500 5800 and 5900 to my ip.

Any catches I am not thinking of?

How are you testing your setup? Are you trying to connect to the server PC while both the client and server PCs are behind the same router?

You could also make sure that your DDNS has been properly updated.

Testing

I check the current assigned ip on my router's setup and try to connect to it from another pc on my lan.

Is my problem here?

I have disabled my DDNS for now to narrow down my possible issues.

So you are trying to vnc to an ip, within your local network? Then you dont need to forward ports on your router. An of course if you can't vnc to that ip, there is a problem with your vnc settings.

Then if you get the local ip vnc to work and it doesnt work from outside, remembering that some routers don't support loopback, there is a problem with your port forwarding settings.

Cur8or,

Test your VNC server by "calling" into it from a VNC client outside your own LAN. I had the same problem, but then I tried from outside and everything went well.

I’m trying to connect from home to work on my office PC using tightVNC.

Please help me as I am not sure what to set where.

Office – I have Telkom ADSL 5100
Home – I have Marconi Broadband Router with 4 LAN ports

I have setup a static IP with no-ip.com
