Pan, what is the current approach being used toward companies?

Debbie2, how well versed are you in termz of the Skillz Development Act... I looking at Telkom`z policy & fee structure as a hinderence toward this and BEE... Know anyone in or info about:

The Africa Institute of South Africa [ http://www.ai.org.za/ ]
Alternative Information and Development Centre [ http://www.aidc.org.za/ ]
...?

I am just playing around with ideaz, such as telkom becoming / is a destructive entity in the dev. of this country, as well as telkom infinging on our human rights by posing fee structurez that prevents socio-economic up-liftment...

I dunno... mayhappz ``The Independent Development Trust`` could assist in assessing the validity and viability of these things...

i.m.o, telkom would really start to shake from it foundationz when we prove such behaviour...


I am just brainstorming here people... can`t do it on the AntiTrust site, as I am CAPPED... :eek:

Have any of you seen those dayglo yellow signs up on light poles and at robots that say: "SIENER.CO.ZA" ? I saw them a while back when I was up in Joburg and I just remembered them now and went to the site. Maybe it would be a good idea to try a few just with "ANTITRUST.CO.ZA" or "HELLKOM.CO.ZA" printed on them. It'll make people curious and encourage them to go check it out, worked that way for me anyway :p It would just widen your coverage area from that graffiti wall.

I don't know if the signs are legal though :confused: Probably not.

Listen, if you don't want to get involved, that's fine. Stay out of it. But there is no need to demote those people who are trying to make a difference. A couple of people around here who adopt this defeatist attitude of, "you not going to change anything so why try?" are the same people that have no idea about the kinds of efforts underway to change this situation.

There are a number of people in SA who are putting themselves on the line in order to try make a difference. And trust me, you actually dont have a clue what is being done. Saying things like "it doesnt work" is disrespectful to those people who are out there taking the initiative. Why are you even hanging around MyAdsl? To sit here and moan about things, whilst not having the guts or the courage to get out there and do something?

You people will argue, "but it's my opinion" - and yes, you are correct, it is your opinion. The problem is that your opinion has negative, demotivational effects. Expressing opinions like this which are wholly unconstructive actually do leave our fight WORSE OFF than if you just hadnt said anything at all.

The next thing I want to point out is is that what is being proposed here is something entirely different to hellkom.co.za. Hellkom, as Vio correctly points out, is more of a consumer-information site which may encourage a limited amount of activism, but is by and large used for informative purposes only.

Skrewball, you contend that this "oesnt work" - could you please give me an example of a grassroots telecommunications reformation group that has failed? In fact, can you please give me ANY example of a formally organised grassroots telecommunications group pushing for liberalisation? You cannot, because there are none (MyAdsl cannot even be considered in this category). How can you then say that this doesnt work? On what are you basing this statement?

Incidently, Peapod suggests a similar idea, and she gets a raving, supportive response. Pan's suggestion is met with negativity in abundence! Go figure!!
