Ok, so I'm new to this whole ADSL thing .... I've being running on a Broadband 3g Vodacom contract for 24 months and finally decided to get ADSL because of cost and usage.
Chose Telkom uncapped as both Line and ISP provider. Went for a basic 2mb line. Chose the self install option.
So they installed, activated the line on Saturday and dropped off the Router on Sunday.
Line was syncing on Sunday as both the internet and Adsl light was on and could I proceed with the self-install up to a certain point. Being enter you line number and order number stage.
First problem, the number I gotten given was incorrect, so could not complete the self-install. Got the correct number and order details on Monday morning and continued with the self install. But hey, to my surprise the line was not syncing and no internet or Adsl connectivity. So could not complete the self install - Error given on self install, DSL not syncing X
Phoned Telkom on Monday, they said to keep waiting as they can see the line is not sync from their side, unplugged the cables, rebooted the router etc ..... then she said something about they rebooting the 'exchange' on Tuesday. Eventually after numerous calls as nothing happened, they eventually logged a ticket on Thursday for a Technican to come out between 3 - 7 working days. Liable for costs if the faults on my side, now how can it be on my side, it's a new line with a new router given to me by Telkom?
All in all not the greatest experience as a new Telkom ADSL user ..... or maybe my lack of technical 'know how' is counting against me ....
