my pc crashed a week ago and and when i finally got it up and running about 2/3 days ago one of the first emails i received was from telkom giving me my update on my adsl line. to my surprise they said my status was uncapped (yet we have a 3gig cap) and i have 30gig local usage which i never had or noticed before. how is this possible and is it a mistake on their side or is this correct?

They probably mean you are not capped, ie. uncapped, you have not used your 3GB up yet.

Local is uncapped by default, but for every 1GB package with Telkom, you get 10GB of local bandwidth (while promotion exists). If you go over your 30GB, you will be billed for each GB you go over @ about R20 (correction?) per GB.

but even since we had this package it has always said we are capped at 3gig and they never ever mentioned local usage now all of a sudden they say we are uncapped and have 30gig local.

If you read other parts of this forum you would know you had 30GB local for most of 2008 ;).

You have to use your 3GB international first, before you can use local though, it's "blended usage".

i always saw you guys talking about that but it never appeared in the email we get from telkom when they give me a breakdown of my internet usage and we often went of 3gig sometimes as far as 4 gig then they shut us down. oh well i dont know how this stuff works so will just carry on regardless then. thanks all.
