Hi guys this is just a little something to "warn" you guys about.

On 29th Nov 2006 i took ownership of the landline in our new home "this actually went quite smooth".

I then placed my ADSL order VIA dailing 10219 where a very friendly guy called "Adrian [email protected]" took my order for my ADSL 512k slef-install option. He informed me it might be avail for installation in 14 working days. I once more confirmed with him 3days later that I took a self-install and with no additional options on the line ... and he replied .. you have 2 optional extras on your line " call answer @ R10/m and line block @ R35/m ... i asked him to remove it where he told me any changes now will cause my to fall down the list as only one call can be logged on your name @ a time.

That i could live with ...

Then 4th Dec 2006 a recieved a confirmation call from Thabani @ 012-6808159 his working hrs are : mon-thu 07:00 - 12:30 / 13:30- 16:00 and fri: 07:00 - 15:30.

to confirm that this is the number I want to have adsl installed." AND I CONFIRMED FOR SELFINSTALL OPTION" and the line would be converted in few days time " 13/14th Dec 2006" everything cool ...

I then phoned him this morning to confirm my installation and details where he told me " you have selected the NON SELF-INSTALL option

i asked him WTF ?? and requested him to change it ... this will once more void my spot in the que ... so i have been bent over and reamed up the naught by the scummy giant.

so guys thats going for self-install make sure to confirm with every phone call that your options are still correct.

RANT OVER ....

I think it's absolute rubbish that they use the excuse of losing your place in the call. All calls to Telkom are logged and I suggest you insist that you speak to a manager to have this sorted out as you clearly stated what you wanted. Alternatively, you could always try www.hellopeter.co.za and rant there. Telkom seems to be responding over there :).

Best of luck!

I agree, I did the self install for a 384k connection and a week after I was up and running I upgraded to 512k and the operator again asked me about the self install.

Bad or no track and trace system in place.

thanks man ... i'll log my complaint there ....

I also agree, give www.hellopeter.com a try, I complained there twice, and Telkom did phone me back.

However I am glad that I dont have to battle with them anymore, seeing that I got my ADSL line today, AT LAST.Surfing the internet, and playing a bit of FEAR on SGS....man, it feels like HEAVEN !

:D

Oh, ya just need to sign up for my IS 30GB local account tonight then all will be good !

My Complaint

oke so i did complain @ hellopeter.com and i received a phone call in about 20-40mins after.

This is real quick responce BUT ... the lady is still not sucking on a cigar.

I shall see what happens ....

Too good to be true

It sounds too good to be tue, Telkom called me this morning after I placed a comment on hellopeter.

I ordered last week and installation is set for the 17th. Which is a Sunday (that makes me suspicious already!) Anyway I live in Cape Town, and the time between order and install appears to be v.quick. I just hope in reality it is. I didnt expect it to be installed this side of the Christmas.

Fingers crossed!
Andy

Within seconds of my previous post got another call from a different rep at Telkom saying someone will be around within 11 days.

So I've got two different stories. I wonder which one speaks the truth!

yup same here, still waiting for someone to phone "within 7 days" it's been 14 days...
