So about a fortnight ago I decided to go for the 8Mbps line speed (my area supports up to 10Mbps). Previously I was on 4Mbps.
A couple days after I placed the order my router was syncing at 8188Kbps. So far so good.
For the next week my line was solid. No disconnects whatsoever. SNR downstream hovering at around 10dB. A little low but, as I say, the line is fine. No issues.
A couple days ago I notice that my router is back on 4092Kbps. I phone Telkom to see what's going on.
They tell me that a technician has determined that my line is "unstable" at the higher speed and that there is no option but to be dropped back down to 4Mbps. This of course is total BS. I was more than happy with the line speed upgrade and as I said, not a single issue.
So their "tech" department seems a little clueless when all this is explained to them. And I just find myself going round in circles.
Any advice?
