U guys know you have been ripped off sadly by purshasing Telkom ADSL modems. I mean, R 2069.00 for a crappy usb and R 2400.00 for an ethernet modem. Sheesh.

We also offer the ADSL service to our customers. Obviously they are also complaining about the service, but there is nothing we can do about it. But, the big difference is that luckly they didnt have to dock up over 2k for a modem. Sheesh.

Our modems are USB/Ethernet, u choose which u want to use. and they are going for almost R 500.00 less than the cheapest Telkom modem.

The new modems we have just started importing (they are not available yet, due to quality testing and network compatability testing) will retail for about R 900.00 - R 1100.00

And to all you guys thinking of giving up your Telkom ADSL conncetions.....good luck. We had a mixup the other day where Telkom 'accidently' signed up one of our client to Telkom Internet. It took a total of 49 minutes on the phone just to get to the right people, then after that they wanted letters and 30 days notice and all crap like that for a service tht was never even requested from them.

Lastly, there is a work-around the 3GB cap thing. Get yourself a temporary ADSL account for the remainder of the month (obviously not from Telkom) and use that. Sure it will be extra expense, but to not drop to 9.6k conncetion speed, it might be worth it.

I use an OEM USB Modem that i aquired for R880-00 works fine. Anybody want one give me a call 011 425 6823

Just By the way. Comztek are sitting with 3000 Duxbury ADSL modems in there warehouse, identical to the OEM version that Telkom Rips us off with. However they are waiting for ICASA approval. they will sell to dealers for around R***-** and Retail for around R590-00 once approved. Mark tells me he's been waiting nearly 4 months now for approval. Once again the monopoly wins.

I see askey have a PCI ADSL modem available, i am planning on using a linux box to host my adsl connection when i get it, anyone had any experience with PCI adsl products, my guess is that it'll be considerably cheaper than any external device available.

If anyone has any info to share on this it will be greatly appreciated.
