Telkom ADSL Premium Combo Router Problems

Ok brother...one more suggestion....
1) UNINSTALL your torrent ( WHILE KEEPING BOTH FIREWALL'S OFF )
2) GO TO THE DIRECTORY WHERE IT WAS INSTALLED VIA YOUR MICROSOFT EXPLORER
3) DELETE THE CONTENTS
4) RE-INSTALL THE TORRENT
...maby it was wrongly configured since the beginning

i got it working, i suspose!!! i put in my router cd and added my one computers ip to the DMZ! so everyport is open for that computer!!! and the ports are forwarded properly!!! i know the security risks of having no firewall, but i am so over it!!! i can't think of any other way to make this work!!! plus i can set up XP's fire wall in the lan to just allow one port so i am good for now!!! thanks for all the help though!!! least u guyz can help otherz with the same problem as me!!! note u need the CD to set up the DMZ!
To future people wanting to Set up DMZ on "Telkom ADSL Premium Combo Router":
1)autorun the cd
2)click easy setup
3)setup screen comes up, go to the bottom and click "advanced configuration"
4)"Do you want to reset to factory default" - CLICK NO!
5) It will access the router and load up another screen - this does take time (5 min)
6) Once screen has loaded click 3rd option DMZ
7)DMZ host ip: type in the Ip of the pc u want in the DMZ (192.168.0.1 or whatever)
8)Click "submit and save" - you should not need to reset the router once saved!

Thanks for the heads up ToSsMaStR! I had to configure this router at one of our clients offices so that a lady could connect remotely to the office using VNC and PCAnywhere. Ive done this many times on the Marconi Model 2 and Wi-Fi routers but had trouble doing it on the Premium Combo router until I read you previous post.
A more secure way of forwarding the ports you want:
1)autorun the cd
2)click easy setup
3)setup screen comes up, go to the bottom and click "advanced configuration"
4)"Do you want to reset to factory default" - CLICK NO!
5) It will access the router and load up another screen - this does take time (5 min)
6) Once screen has loaded click 2nd option (Virtual Server Configuration)
7) Simply select the protocol type from the "Port type" drop down list.
8) Enter the port that you want forwarded in both the "Port start" and "Port end" text boxes. (5500, 5800, 5900 for VNC. 5631, 5632 for PCAnywhere) in my case
9) In the "Host IP" text box, enter the IP address of the computer you want the packets to be forwarded to.
NOTE: You have to enter one line at a time and click "Submit and Save" after entering each line.
When you're done hit "Reboot"!
Thats it!

Just go into your routers config, under the firewall tab there is an option for Advanced NAT configuration
once there just add reserved mapping and do what you have to do
This router can be used in Bridge & PPPoE at the same time. The problem is that it can not be done via the web interface yet.
I will try to give you better instructions by next week on how to do it with Telnet or provide you with a configuration that you can restore on your router. I will arrange to get the instructions posted on the Marconi website.

Your info is added on the website as promised. I see out IT guys changed the doc from word to pdf, so the embedded icf is not accesable. I will get them to sort it out or include it in the zip. And yes, I am from Marconi - believe it or not but i actually check these discussions to see what people are struggling with in order to improve our products.
It is also handy to see what people like and dislike about our opposition.
If you have good criteria about this router - i would welcome your input because the next router we are working on is very similar to the Premium Combo (but includes VOIP).

Wireless Problems
Hi, why doesn't my wireless network card want to retreive the IP address from the Premium Combo. In the manual it show I must set my card to receive IP automatically. It connects to the Marconi network, but then just keep on saying getting IP.? PLEASE HELP.

search the forums for bridge mode..
there are two ways that you can set the modem up
under Authentication = open
Encryption = WEP128
Module128Key0 = change for security purposes. (has to be 28 digits)
submit and then save config
(or)
Authentication = WPA-PSK
Encryption = WPA1 TKIP
WPA Enabled = True
WPA Key = change for security purposes. (has to be 8 digits)
submit and save config

Fix for x64 users...
Because of me running Windows x64 Pro, I have problems running the "Easy Setup" option on my installation disc. Anyway, here is another way you can follow to open up some ports for forwarding if you have a 64-bit operating system and a Telkom ADSL Premium Combo router:
* Open up your web browser;
* Type in your default gateway ip address in the following format: http://xx.xx.xx.xx/ (usually 10.0.0.2 but you can check under your network connections) and press go;
* Go to "Configuration" and then to "Firewall";
* Under the "Security Interfaces" tab is "Advanced NAT Configuration". Click it;
* Go to "Add Resereved Mapping"
* Now, type "0.0.0.0" in "Global", your computer's static IP address under "Internal", the type of connection under "Transport Type" (usually TCP) and the start and the end of the range of ports you want to forward (use the same for External and Internal to be safe);
* Finally click "Add Reserved Mapping" and save your configuration under "Save Config" in the main tab.
* Done.
