Hi Guys
Not sure if this is the right place please move if its not.

I have applied for a telkom line, they didnt contact once i had applied so i thought to bug them till its sorted. i phoned this morning and they said they cannot process this order as there is no space for my line but they are busy working on it. No ETA.

Anybody know how long this takes for this to be done? Am i in for years of waiting?

Does anybody have a "connection" who can assist with a faster turn around time or at least a date?

Thanks

Good luck

There is essentialy an open project at the "network division".

Anybody who had to deal with them will know that they are beyond useless.

There is a new overhead cable running past my house to replace the faulty one but these chaps refuse to do the cutover because they don't have the budget to do it.
Instead the technical division has to constantly send out techs on their budget to fix the open wires with insulation tape after each storm.

Our exchange is also at capacity since middle last year and the extra dslams and analogue capacity have still not been installed. Theres a doctors complex near us who do not have analgue lines because of capacity constraints.

So yeah

Good Luck

:O i suspected as much:( always hear horror stories about telkom so when they said theres no space i thought hmm 10 years maybe they have it done:(

No im very sad...

u know.... there is a way to fast track it....
do it the proudly south african way.... find where the box / exchange is, (go in dead of nite), and burn that f*r down to the ground.
it will be out of service for a few days, but if it is such a busy box that has been filled so far, then they'll soon come replace it with a new box, capable of more open ports and latest tech :D

hehehe... umh... thats the equally frastrated also-waiting-for-a-line little devil on my shoulder thinking out loud.
at my place the phone makes 'beeeeeeeeep' coz the previous owner disconnected from Telkom, but its probly still connected to the pole.
I applied for a phone line 2 weeks ago, to get adsl... phoned them up yesterday to get status update "no cables"
they busy installing new cables I understand, I see fresh new telkom boxes around the block, so I understand theyre putting new cables.

as far as how long it will take? hmmmm.... about 4 years ago we ordered 3 ISDN lines for the office, couldnt get coz the exchange is full.... after almost 3 years later they called me "can we come and install?"
alas, nobody wanted ISDN no more, so I told them where they can stick it

Depression has struck hard now:(

If u are lucky somebody might cancel their line like if somebody moves then there will be a free spot for you on the exchange.

How many people in the area are selling their houses? :)

how can you find out neighbours numbers??? maybe phone and cancel theirs haha.

I hate telkom and i've never used them:(

Called today just to see if theres anything to update me on... Now the say 30 to 40 days till they can give feedback. 30 to 40 days of inspection????? WTF do they have like 3 ppl working at telkom... WTF takes so long to see if an exchange needs an upgrade??? Never mind carrying out the upgrade that could take years literally

I am sooooooo angry... Wish i knew some1 in a high place:(
