So I'm not sure if this is the correct section..

Anyway, couple of weeks ago, Telkom installed a new line at my new premises. The line was tested while the technician was onsite and I was told all I needed to do was upgrade it to an ADSL line. Which may take 7 days. No problem.

The next day I call them and make this request.

7 Days go by and my ADSL modem won't even "see" the exchange. Odd.

I call Telkom to be messed around with 5 different reasons - eventually finding out that my new line is dead. No dial tone, nothing.

I've reported the fault - and have yet to have any feedback.
besides moaning again at them, is there anything else I can do?

It took you 7 days to figure out you had no dial tone? Surely this is the first thing you would check when you have a problem with your line?

I didn't check it for seven days as they kept telling me my order was still processing (Upgrading to ADSL line) - the modem was not receiving a ADSL signal. Assumed it was due to them still upgrading the line. It was only when I received an sms informing me it was completed - that I checked the line again to test for a dial tone. Hence it taking so long.

Do you mean your modem don't pick up a ADSL signal?

Yes - the modem was not receiving any signal at all.

I can report that I got a call from them and they have resolved the issue. Tested and now modem see's the exchange.
They informed me that when they upgraded it to ADSL from normal line - someone messed up and hence no dial tone.

Just glad it's sorted now, though.

Thanks guys.
