Hi guys,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my query.

I have been fighting with Telkom to install an ADSL line at my townhouse for 8 months now. I need this as my 3g bill has been running @ R1000 or more where I could be spending an odd R400 for more through ADSL.

They say they "cant" because the developer did not install the necessary infrastructure, and they do not allow lines in our complex....

My body corporate says they do not have a problem, so I think Telscum is just thinking up excuses.....

They did however tell me that I can have CDMA technology at my house in the next month or so..... and it will work the same as an ADSL line's billing.

Now: are they trying to think up excuses, or is telkom busy rolling out cdma?

Thanks again,

Revere

guys on this forum who have had the same problem have reported that it is just a matter of getting hold of the right people at Telkom. They have a backlog of complex installations, but they will do it after a given amount of time. The problem is not that they don't want to do it, but rather their logistics. I would just sit tight for another month or two. They will put the ADSL in sooner or later.

The Developer is suppose to install infrastructure. You can check if you have spare wall socket. There is also suppose to be Blue boxes outside every Building. If not then it's the developers fault.

So what you are telling me is if the developer stuffs up, the consumer will get the short end of the stick until he sells his house.... to get internet??

The house I had previously did not have "infrastructure", but telkom came and planed poles and got me up and running.... just can't see the logic in that. Maybe I'm just stupid.
