Telkom appoints Reuben September CEO

IMO exactly the opposite - I agree with Skip ITO this being more about a clash of personalities and incompatible management styles than Thabo saying 'lower the prices or you are fired', so I suspect that there will be a promotion from within the current ranks of someone that the rest are used to by now, probably the acting CEO September will become the de facto CEO...
.

given the high likelihood of the breakup of telkom, i imagine very few outside candidates would have wanted to take such a job.

Hopefully he'll notice the competition that is coming Telskommel's way and downright crap image the public has of Telskommel.

If Mr September has any interest in keeping Telkom's market position he will do the following:

- No local caps and bandwidth locally is free (an access charge is already payable monthly - for what do we pay this???)

- At present the price of International bandwidth is a scandal compared to oversee's telco's. It's too expensive and their caps are ridiculious.

- Stop milking the public and realize that a company like this makes money off numbers and not high charges. High Charges = unhappy customers running to competition which offers better deals (hopefully soon) - Cheap good services = lots of customers and new customer base growing.

I've met Mr September on two occasions... he's a *smart man (*excluding the allegation that he took 7 years to do a 4 year degree)... he just seems to be the type to have 'things up his sleeve'.

Then he would be the type to turn the pricing in the direction of the people who grace his palm with the most silver I would imagine.

I don't think his appointment is going to be a good thing for us in the short term, only competition will sort this out now, what little competition there is.

Reuben is just another puppet on strings - Even if he wants to make a difference, he will be squashed by the board & the powers that be!. - nothing will change.
