Howsit guys. Telkom are on their way to install my line and adsl. Is there anything I should ask the technician or be on the look out for?

Very useful thanks :-)

I find Bougainvillea to be the worst.
Those thorns.....

Seriously though, they'll test and install your line for you.
When you have your account details & modem you will need to verify your account before it is activated.

Hahaha. Looks like it could be painful.

So the technician will just test the line and put the necessary connections then I assume I must go to a telkom branch to do the paperwork and collect the modem?

you are in good hands telkom did a great job with mine

I hope you being sarcastic. Techie just phones me and tells me the number they have allocated me is faulty. Wtf! Now he is speaking to his supervisor. They can't install any connections in the house in the meantime. Nothing. TIFA!

Don't stress, it should be sorted soon.
Did you already sign up for adsl through Telkom?
They should have sent you your account details as well as notifying you to collect your modem if you chose their modem.

I did. I asked for a package etc. They said get the line installed and come back to the store to collect your hardware. I have a telkomsa username and password. I haven't been notified to collect yet.

If I was you I'd go into the store and ask if you can please collect your self-install package to be ready.
I was pretty much in the same situation as you.

The guy from Telkom installed the line but I received no modem.
I went into the store and they gave me my package without any notification sms.
Even though a notification was meant to be sent.

That I can do. It's just pointless when the techie can't even sort the fault out and won't come to the house to do the necessary installations. He said he is at the exchange and doesn't get a dial tone. He is apparently speaking to his supervisor.

So today I accomplished absolutely nothing. The fault had been rectified at the exchange. Apparently something wrong with port. The only reason why I know this is because I drove to a telkom shop and called 10210. The operator told me. Willy the technician doesn't bother to inform me of this and because he sent the job to the fault department it is no longer an installation. So now I have had to make another appointment. Ooh the joys of dealing with a government run company. Will keep you posted.

business's yes but why fix them when telkom are already getting your money? We would rather have a new customer and another monthly fee :-)
