Just some background. I am still awaiting my ADSL line installation at my new home. As per usual the first excuse supplied by Telkom is that there are no ports and that there is a project to install new ports in the area. We've all heard that one before so I knew short of placing an ad in the newspaper I might as well wait. Got ports in the beginning of September but then there was no bandwidth available so another project which I had to wait for. Got confirmation that the bandwidth project was finished last week wednesday (13/09/06). On thursday no phonecall yet so phoned to follow up. Got escalated and got promised the magical phone call within 48 hours. This morning came around obviously with no phone call so called Telkom again. Spoke to Brigitte and got the following line delivered in perfect seriousness.
"48 hours means 48 business hours and therefore Telkom is still within its time limit to return my call"
I packed up laughing and couldn't say anything so just put the phone down. I will try again tomorrow.
Maybe we should ask Jeremy to have a section on his LOL show where you call in to Telkom and hear the most ridiculous excuses around.
