I'm already with Telkom for Uncapped. I am looking to upgrade from 2Mb to 4Mb and would like to know what Telkoms billing practise is. If I upgrade on the 1st of Feb, will I get double billed? I Believe my Telkom billing cycle is 14-14?

Tricky one.

After a billing hassle last Dec I was informed by the Pinnacle call centre that you should only be billed for the higher value account as the login details now stay the same ie [email protected] when up/downgrading - not sure about the old [email protected] type accounts.

BUT as the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing at Telkom Billing I'm waiting until March before I decide what to do, I'm sure there will plenty of feedback by then.

Edit: I suppose it's also possible that they'll keep the billing the same and just upgrade the existing 2Mb to 4Mb uncapped :D My cycle is 26th/25th so I’m keen to see this months account.

Edit2: Rethink - they'll have to keep the speed the same and drop the billing, upgrading to 4Mb uncapped would only work for people like me who are currently paying for >4Mbs lines.

I was curious about this too, I called Telkom and asked whether they could upgrade me to the 2MB uncapped account from my current capped 2MB account and they weren't sure whether I should call on the 31st or the 1st but told me if they upgraded me now I would be billed in full for the month of January uncapped even though I want it to start working on the 1st of February.

I called Telkom and the guy seemed to know what I was talking about.

He said that you need to call on the 1st, and then anything you have paid for will be credited.

So in my case, I have already paid for 2mb up until the 14th of Feb. I will get a credit for that, and only be billed for the 4Mb.

So what is the consensus, is there a downgrade fee to go from 4Mbps to 2Mbps? I'm obviously talking about the line.

I've heard different things over the years.
