Something strange has happened to my connection to the outside world, and I cannot imagine what it is or how to get it sorted out.
A few weeks ago my ADSL line went down for the umpteenth time. When it did eventually come back up (after spending several hours on the phone to report and track the fault - but that's another story ) my connection speed was never quite what it was before (I am on a 512 line, used to get close to that frequently, now top out at around 300); and more worryingly, my connection seems intermittent. I would have gaps of anything from seconds to several minutes absolutely not a SINGLE bit moves from or to my PC. Mega 100WR router.
Configurationwise nothing has changed on my router, nothing has changed on my PC (have tried two PCs and two different account, but have the same problem. Both my accounts are with Telkom (as ISP). When I did eventually get somebody out here to look at the fault he poked around the connection wires a little and changed a plug (and seemed to think that would fix it all). Sadly I wasn't there at the time so couldn't stick the screwdriver where it belongs.
Needless to say the problem is still as bad as before.
Any suggestion? Puleeez - anything?
