Good evening gents.

Just have a general query.

As i logged on tonight to do my usual night of gaming, i jump on to Teamspeak and immidiately that my ping was 1700ms... its gone down a little to like 1200 now.

Also my ping in DOTA2 was constant 1000ms. Fifa is also unplayable.

Am i the only Telkom user experiencing this?

oh yeh, im like 20 km south of gauteng if that makes any difference.

Don't worry im in Meyerton and from 21/06/2013 I haven't had any ADSL. I thought it might be the router from a power surge but it wasn't that, as I tested the line with another router and it also didn't work. I called telkom on 23/06/2013 and the representative said there was a service prob in the area and couldn't tell me when it will be back up. I called again today the 27/06/2013 and a more helpful representative assisted me and told me that some hardware at the exchange have failed and should be fixed by today.

Try call and find out what the problem could be. Good Luck!

Which suburb are you? So far mine is still working (Lets hope I don't jinx it)
We had intermittant failures 3 weeks ago. Every time it happened around 21:00 for 5 minutes The phone line would be up, but my modem would lose connectivity. This would then happen 3 to 4 times after that, then be back to normal.
For about a week - every night.

@ BlackWasp: Don't think so. I think that is a Seacom Issue.

@ Vehemenz: It seems to be a Telkom ISP issue. I'm on Mweb and don't have your problems apart from the more recent Seacom issue. However a friend of mine started getting your problems 2 days ago (Same day as you) as well with massive pings to TS, Dota 2 and Dayz Servers locally. He has since switched to using his 3G backup. So it is a TelkomSA issue it seems. He is also in Gauteng.

Have things improved (as of Friday evening, all known issues we could reproduce should be fixed, many others were fixed earlier in the week)? If not, please provide details (server IP etc.) so I can have a look.
