Telkom can't amend order to include DSL installation?

So I moved to a new place, which has an existing Telkom line installed but which was deactivated by previous owner before they left. When we moved in I thought I'd request for the line to be reactivated by Telkom and then get DSL from another ISP.

So we placed the order on the 7th Feb. Guy who helped us said it would be 2-3 weeks. That following week we received an SMS saying our installation was scheduled for 28th March. Shock indeed, after tons of hassle this was brought forward to 11th March. Then we thought well why not just get the ADSL installation included when they come to reactivate the line to speed things up a bit. You'd think it would be straight forward to just amend the order to include DSL? Nope. Apparently they are unable to do this, we would have to cancel our initial order and then re-apply and then fall back into the back of the queue for installation? We were told this buy our "helpful" consultant who didn't even go into the order on the system. He also told us for ADSL they have to install an additional copper line. The competence was too high with this one.

Now we are waiting for the 11th and praying they pitch, and then once we have a line we have to go back to them to order DSL and then most likely wait another month for that to be activated. Biggest load of k@k in my life.

Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Any suggestions?

I've had my line (new line) installed and then when I went back to the office I phoned and ordered the DSL. By the time I got home that night my DSL was up and running.

May be this was in the middle of winter no rain so not much maintenance or it was a MSAN/ISAM that does not need a extra jumper to be run to enable ADSL.
The ISAM/MSAMs do not need an extra jumper to be run to enable ADSL.
The old exchanges have separate DSAMs that have to be jumpered between the number and the out going cable pair to enable ADSL .

I'm hoping this is the case, but in my experience with the fools here, probably no such luck.

Speak to the tech when he gets there may be he can enable the ADSL ,that way he gets an extra task for the day .
