Telkom cap increases

I got 20GB instead of 9GB for July and August. I hoped, how unrealistically it might be, that it would stay this way. But 1GB extra is good nonetheless.

Where have you read this Nive k, as far as I am aware due to the increased competition out there by other service providers, the new caps will stay the same
20GB per month and Telkom will not revert to the 10GB cap. If you have read this differently please advise

The 20Gb per month increase only applies only for July and August, unless Telkom change their mind which is unlikely.

Yes also read the article, Telkom are loosing out to other ISP's that is why they offered the three month free ADSL deal & a free ADSL Modem for new clients, Afrihost and others are offering 20GB data for R150.00 for up to a 10Mb line. I doubt Telkom will revert to old
packages for fear of loosing their existing clients

Afrihost are charging R300.00 for a 20GB data package, Telkom are charging R541.00 for 4MB line and 10GB, that is why they increased the cap to 20GB to get in line with other ISP's if they revert to the 10GB cap they will lose a lot of their clients to other ISP's

The 20gb is just a promotion, the previous link I posted is their official pricing they they released, unlikely that they would announce 1gb upgrades and then change it to 20gb.

Is there a way of checking how much bandwidth you have left for the month? I signed up a few days ago and I'd like to know how much I can abuse it before cap kicks in.

Cheers

You can only revert to an original state which is 9GB and not 10GB! Our new caps will only come into effect 1 September

Please do not use the word revert if you do not understand its meaning.

Usage tracker only gives current usage, not remaining. If memory serves, Telkom prorates you if you sign up mid-month?

You can subscribe to receive a weekly email with usage stats from Telkom. That email states the remaining amount of bandwidth available.

Great stuff. Set it to notify me daily, so I'll probably get a report sometime tomorrow. Thanks.
