Telkom charge per GIG for local bandwidth

NEW capping policy w.e.f 1 February 2008 ~ Once your service threshold and collective threshold have been exceeded, you will be placed within your allocated Local Only bandwidth which is on promotion. As you will not be capped on local bandwidth, we reserve the right to bill you for anything exceeding the allocated local bandwidth that is on promotion. The charge for local bandwidth is R25,55 per gig. If you desire international surfing you can top-up your current username with additional blended bandwidth.

There is a thread somewhere here about what telkom can do to make the public happier with them ... this would not be one of those things i think ...

*SIGH* if only it was as easy to steal adsl bandwidth from the telephone line as it is for a lot of ppl to steal electricity from the power lines .... pity the "democratic" process seems to mean NOTHING in this country ... guess there are a lot more important things to destroy, i mean create, in this country ...

Ditto, there are lots and lots of ADSL reseller ISPs to choose from, and considering that Telkodemonopolies[Hindernet] likes shooting itself in the foot, I expect it will experience a mass exodus of customers that realise the laxative-capping system has backed up.

Some small consolation is that you get 10GB of local for every 1 GB of blended you buy...no Telkom are not paying my wages now...

The problem is that all the content that I want is overseas so it doesn't help me that much

At least the playing field is a little fairer now, Teklom can no longer hand out 6GB of blended bandwidth for the price of 3.

@ Gru, Sure, and Im sure many would have prefered the relaxed blended capping policy to the now what seems more rigourous Int bw capping.
