Telkom Checker Vs. BroadbandStats.co.za

Ok. Here is the question. Which one is right?

Telkom says number 0139310009 has available ADSL up to 4mbps and broadbandstats.co.za says that broadband is not available in this area?

Who would trust more?

Well, I hope Telkom is righ as well. But a guy I spoke from the area told me that he applied at Telkom and they told him that only W-CDMA will work in his area because Cultura Park (which is 2km away from Bronkhorstspruit CDB which has ADSL availability) doesn't have ADSL availability. Crazy stuff. How can a place 2km away not have ADSL availability?!

Neither are 100% accurate but I would say the Telkom checker is more accurate.

They see exactly what the checker says. Just order the line, they'll tell you once they put the order through whether it will be available or not.

Yes but I don't want Telkom Line if there is no ADSL availability. Make sense? I'm sure they will able to see something more.

I don't have a number. The number is not mine, but it belongs to the Na Hua Temple which is literally right next to the house.

The Telkom checker says that 1Mb/s is available where I live, but gives my service speed as 10Mb/s! The reality is that according to the router, my line syncs at 7Mb/s. I would seriously question any info that Telkom derives from their so-called checker. In fact, in my experience almost anything Telkom says needs to be checked and double-checked against reality.

Well it is correct in saying that your line speed is 10Mbps then. 7Mbps would be the 10Mbps product but just synced slightly lower for stability most likely.

Telkom says my area is max 4Mbps but I have a 40Mbps line

So what will it take to have an accurate Telkom checker? Should it not be a simple data collection exercise? If you look at the pic below it is a case of collecting data and then writing a query for public purposes... there should only be around 6 million records (home to SDC).

Ok so according to my modem I can sync at 10 Mbps but Telkom say the exchange is only 2 Mbps capable and that's what I got with a new installation. Queenswood Pretoria living 1.7 km from exchange. The Roadhouse 3 blocks from me further from the exchange has a Telkom WiFi hotspot running on ADSL and it is running at 10 mbps, did a speed test with the 10 gig a month I get from them. So my question is why are they only allowing 2 mbps.
