got a phone call just now from telkom

issue i told her was i was on a 4meg from may 1st, worked perfect till around the 20th may then the problems came,
this weekend on the phone they said they would drop to a 2meg and that stabilised the problem.

so on the phone i told her it worked fine at the start and now it is crap and i wanted the 4 meg connection fixed. then she said she would put it back to 4 meg and for me to monitor it and if it goes wrong that they will send a tech. i told her i know it will go wrong seen as they nothing to fix and then she came out with this classic 'why do you want the 4 meg line when it is working fine now on 2meg', i couldnt believe it, obviously i would want the connection that would be twice as fast. what an idiot
 
They can't help it keeffo2010, they don't know why people want internet, therefore cannot understand our frustration. Oh, and forget about having full line speed soon. A quick search here will point you to many many people who do not have full line speed, myself included. Their network is over worked in some areas, hence the erratic and bad speeds.
 
So what happened to the new generation network they've been telling everyone about for a while? Have they been lying?

i know but i was a bit taken back when she said this, i just thought it was worst reply to a customer but then again it is telkom, i come from ireland where internet is criticised but we can still get 30meg line from an alternative provider other than the main broadband provider, as in no adsl line rental rubbish
 
line dropping again since they put me back to 4meg, just rang telkom and they say they are having a national problem, is this accurate
 
Actually I and couple of other people in my town, that contacted me, did experience email and connection problems from about 17:00 till about 18:30. Maybe other areas were affected at different times?
