Telkom Closer no refundable deposit

Hi
I've have had closer 4 for 2 months, self install, free modem, no contract etc.
I called Telkom to clarify the billing, the fact that they had charged me the first month in advance (499) and the weird way they worked things out.
Anyway, i was told that the first month in advance fee (499) was refundable only if i chose to cancel my package within 3 months.

In other words it's a form of hidden installation fee ?

This had not been mentioned to be before, and i am now considering canceling because i feel i have been lied to.

Is anyone else aware of this?

i think you always pay in advance. My suggestion is calling them again, maybe the person you spoke to is confused

i got nailed like this as well... it seems to be a standard practice for telkom. they extort money from you

apparently, according to them, if you dont like it, feel free to make use of their competition...
