Telkom Contract auto renew?

Hi all

We initially took out a 24 month telkom ADSL contract and got the free modem etc.
That was approx 4 years ago. We now want to swap to Mweb, but upon phoning telscum
they tell us that our contract was only from December 2009 - is this possible?
Do they auto renew the contract every 24 months?

(If we do manage to change) We would like to keep our existing telkom email address.
Apparently this is possible, if someone could point us in the right direction...

I was told by a person that works in telkom direct that if you cancel contract you will have to pay R70 every month until your contract finishes.

well I think they will go to a month to month contract if you dont cancel but to auto sign you up for another 24 months would be crazy - wait Telkom you say??

they can not auto renew a contract without you signing for that

tell them you never renewed you contract and they must prove otherwise

dont they switch your contract to month-to-month once it has ended? thats what they done to me

I have the same problem, does 'pick up another modem' include when lightening damaged mine, i returned it to them , they gave me a new one with a recept, i did not sign anything.
