I upgraded my Telkom contract over the phone in 2023. It was a conversation with an agent. As far as I can remember, no paperwork was exchanged. It was all done over the phone.
Fast forward to today. I thought I was on a 24 month contract, but it turns out I am on a 36month contract.
First, I thought I'd ask for a copy of the contract, but it turns out that there was no physical contract. Again, only a phone call.
I emailed [email protected], and after a couple of back-and-forth emails, they made it abundantly clear that their process is that they do not supply recordings of any calls to customers. Not even if it is the only contract that exists.
I have attempted to escalate to any superiors, but they plainly refuse. All I want to do is to listen to the recording between the agent any myself to establish what I asked for and what I got in the contract is the same.
So, question: Is it legal for them to refuse to supply the "Contract" recording to me? I mean, if it is the only agreement that exists, surely I am entitled to a copy if said recording?
They said I am able to request the recording to be sent to a Telkom branch where I can listen to it. But that's not the point. I would like a copy for myself. It's not such an unreasonable request, is it.
