Hi all..

Got a call from a dozy at Telkom today informing me that I'm over my credit limit and I must pay by the 14th of March.

I enquired as to when the inovice for the outstanding amount was sent and she told me the 8th of April. The thing is that I only had the line installed on the 6th of April!

I understand when you first get your line there is a large bill due to waiting for a whole month to pass before invoicing (at least this is what happened on my last account) but why must I pay in excess of R2000 when they havent invoiced me yet?

I thought, well i'll go and check my mail to see if the invoice actually is there and there isn't one. So now what do I do? I'm not about to waltz into a Telkom office and give them two grand without knowing what it is I'm actually paying.. I've tried to set up an online account, but that doesn't work and the lady on the phone wouldn't email me a statement..

Any adivce?

Waltz into Telkom's offices and get an account - they can print it online.

Unfortunately they are the biggest blackmailers in the country supported with an gigantic legal department. If you don't pay and then argue, you will regret it.

It is no use to argue before paying.

i'm going to do that right now actually after I've had my coffee :)

The whole situation sucks. I can imagine why this occurs.. You get the line installed etc.. this comes to around R1500, you make some calls etc.. The bill you will recieve goes over R2000 or whatever the flagged amount is and they spazz out in accounts and phone you telling you to pay up or else!

Rather stupid if you ask me...

haha.. Yes..

Thing is, if thats what I owe them, then thats what I owe them. But I wish they weren't so obtuse about the whole thing.

At least there is hope for Telkom: IF only the rest of Telkom would be as efficient as their credit controllers...

You can see Gov has a finger in the Telkom Pie. Money collection = best is the business. Service delivery = what service?
