Good Day, My mother has passed away in February 2021 to date her telkom account has not been resolved. I have been to the Telkom store in centurion mall several times and im told that it has been logged and they will get back to me. To date no feedback received. I called the billing department and they say they cannot assist as i must go to the Telkom store. All i require is for the account to be closed and for telkom to advise if there is any amount due to be paid so the matter can be resolved. My mom is deceased now for 3 months and the billing amount is increasing. Is a dead person responsible for this???????

Good luck. I still have invoices being sent to me by Telkom for a mailbox account that was registered under my fathers name. He’s been dead 9 years already. I have tried numerous times to cancel and have the exact same problem. They are so fscking useless. Dumb cnuts. I just use the invoices to wipe my arse now.

There is only so much you can do. If the account was in your deceased mother's name, then this is no longer your problem. Just ignore it. You're not legally responsible and debt from a Telkom account does not pass to the next of kin. It sounds like you have done far more than you are required to.

Take it to Twitter and Facebook...it is a shame you have to do that to get some service but hey if that is what you have to do then go for it

I just gave them my mother death certificate. they tried to con me into signing a piece of paper saying I take over her debt, told them the piss off and walked out!! fucum if they want their money they can go knock on her coffin.

never heard from them again!

Why bother resolving it? It's not worth the headache. Good luck to Telkom trying to sue a dead person.

yes, i am the executor
As soon as the Executor has been officially appointed, he must open an estate late bank account and place a Section 29 advertisement in the local newspaper and the Government Gazette. The purpose of this advert is to notify debtors and creditors of the deceased estate, granting them a 30-day period to submit any claims against the estate.
After the 30-day period has elapsed and all claims have been lodged, it is the Executor’s function to prepare a Liquidation and Distribution Account (L&D Account). The L&D Account reflects all the assets and liabilities of the estate and determines its solvency. If there is a Will, the Executor will use this document to determine how the assets will be distributed. In the absence of a Will, the assets will be distributed in accordance with the Intestate Succession Act. Once the L&D Account has been finalised, it is lodged with the Master, together with all supporting documentation as well as the Will, where it will lie for 15 days to allow for queries. Anything pertaining to the L&D Account can be queries via a query sheet and the Executor is obliged to provide answers to the Master. Once the Master is satisfied, he will sign off the L&D Account.
It is up to Telkom to keep an eye on the Government Gazette and put in a claim as long as you have followed the above.
