Operating profit and net profit is not the same thing...

The results can be found here
Still doesn't show interest and tax. If we assume exact same results as at 31 March 2005, but for only half a year:

R '000 000s
Investment Income: 350 / 2 = 175
Finance Charges: (1 695) / 2 = (847.5)
Tax: (3 070) / 2 = (1 535)
Total: (2 207.5)

Operating profit: 7 517
Int & Tax: (2 207.5)
Approx net profit: 5 309.5

I'm not an accountant so this may be wrong :p

[edit]
Oh, OK - Found it: Net profit at 30 September 2005 - R4,281,000,000 :o

So Telkom made a profit of R 23,393,443 per day.

I do not think any other company in SA makes that much on a daily basis. It just goes to show how much we are being milked.

Lets say, i pay my maid R 4000.00 per month, then it would still take her 487 years to make what they make in one day. That is really provery alleviation at its best. But unfortunately my maid gets paid R 240 per month, that would take her 8122 years.

Million bucks profit an hour.. nicey nice.

*Hurrumph* Triple bottom-line reporting should be mandatory for these cretins - would assuredly impact the results negatively, which is obviously why it'll never happen...

huh this is a joke.. as usaul Telkom reaps in the profits.
That is more money than entire generations of South Africans will ever earn.

About the Tax thing... Well I may be wrong, shame poor Telkom a measly R5 billion for 6 months, I retract my statements.
